Building an Exemplary Gifted ProgramAny organization requires tools to help its leaders understand whether they are on the right track for success or, if not, to help them quickly identify areas that need work and make improvements. At Stargate, we leverage a five-pronged Strategic Framework and a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help maintain a laser focus on success factors most critical to achieving current and future goals for our students and community. Setting Organizational Goals – The Stargate WayIt starts with the Stargate Mission: Our Mission: Stargate School will provide a differentiated program designed specifically to meet the needs of identified intellectually gifted learners in order to challenge each student’s academic abilities, support their unique emotional needs, promote individual character development, and encourage a life-long love of learning. With "exemplary gifted education" at its center, the Stargate Strategic Framework aligns stakeholders around five areas required to achieve the school's central mission. These include Instruction, Community, Learning Environment, Governance and Finances. Beneath each goal, we've identified specific strategies needed to achieve the goal, as well as high-level, quantifiable measures (KPIs) to track our progress. The plan is cascaded each year to ensure alignment from top to bottom and in between. |
Superior student achievement is at the center of our five-pointed star representation for a very deliberate reason. Simply stated, offering an Exemplary Gifted Program is at the heart of everything we do at Stargate. Our mission of delivering a differentiated, K-12 educational program that provides an educational foundation, allows students to discover their strengths and understand their next steps in applying their gifts. With the ultimate goal of creating adults that become lifelong learners. Each area — Instruction, Community, Learning Environment, Governance, and Finances — contains a group of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that defines our performance targets in critical areas. Each KPI also has at least one identified threshold, which defines the data point at which the status light will move from green (above threshold) to yellow (at threshold) to red (below threshold) in the data summary. When a KPI turns red, this is a signal that board discussion is warranted to understand the root cause(s) and potential corrective and preventative actions. Tracking KPIs and Reporting ResultsStargate KPIs are regularly reviewed by the board and administration team. Progress is reported in board meetings and at the annual State of the School meeting each spring. Material presented during State of the School reviews can be found here, on the same page as board agendas and meeting minutes or by clicking the links below.
