What does it mean to be a Charter School? A Charter School is a public school governed by a group of parents and/or community members. Stargate’s charter is a contract between the school community and Adams 12 Five Star School District. The contract terms require periodic renewal involving a Colorado School Support Initiative (CSSI) assessment by a state recognized third-party. The charter contract also includes waivers that provide autonomy, but limits the use of district resources, teacher negotiated salary and select funding sources.
