2019 Fall Election Results

The Stargate School Election Committee received 5 applications for 5 open seats on the School Accountability Committee. With the same number of candidates for office as seats to be filled and no other matters proposed for the ballot, the Stargate Board of Directors voted at its Sept. 25 meeting to cancel the Fall 2019 election and to declare the following individuals elected by acclamation: 
  • Apsara Aryal, parent member seat, School Accountability Committee
  • Rob Cernich, parent member seat, School Accountability Committee
  • Lindsey Paquette, parent member seat, School Accountability Committee
  • Bethanny Tarantino-Kelly, staff member seat, School Accountability Committee
  • Patrick Williams, staff member seat, School Accountability Committee
Each of the staff seats are for 2-year terms. Two of the parent seats are for 2-year terms and the other parent seat is for a 1-year term. The three newly elected parent members will decide among themselves which candidates receive which seats. 

Update: Fall 2019 Election

The start date for the School Accountability Committee election - originally scheduled for Sept. 23 to Sept 30 - has been postponed. Five applications for five open seats were received during the nomination period. An update will be provided to the Community on Sept. 26, following the Governance Board meeting on Sept. 25.  

The 5 seats open this fall:
  • 3 Parent seats (2, two-year term and 1, one-year term)
  • 2 Staff seats (all two-year terms)

Apply Now for a Seat on School Accountability Committee

Interested in serving on Stargate’s School Accountability Committee (SAC)?

Nominations will be accepted from Sept. 9  until 9 p.m. on Sept. 16 for parent and staff seats on the Stargate School Accountability Committee. Interested candidates should submit a Candidate Application Form

The positions available for this election:
  • 3 Parent seats (2, two-year term and 1, one-year term)
  • 2 Staff seats (all two-year terms)

Nominations Opening Sept. 9 for Fall Election

We will soon be opening nominations and holding elections for Stargate’s School Accountability Committee (SAC). 

Nominations will be accepted from Sept. 9  to Sept. 16. Watch the Elections page for a link to the nomination form.

Spring Election Results

The following election results have been ratified by the Stargate School Election Committee for the three open parent seats on the Stargate School Governance Board of Directors. Two of the seats will be for 3-year terms and one of the seats will be for a 1-year term.

Turnout: 374 out of 1836 stakeholders voted (20.4%).

Governance Board Elections - Voting Open May 1 thru May 13

Voting is now open for the 2019 Spring election. Candidates are running for 3 open parent seats on the Stargate Board of Directors – two seats for a 3-year term and one seat for a 1-year term.​​​​​​​

Stakeholders received ballot instructions on May 1 via an email sent from vote@simplyvoting.com with the subject of "2019 Stargate School Spring Election." Stakeholders who did not receive an email should check their junk email folder.  

Photos, bios and more information about the parents running for election is posted on the Elections page. Polls will close at 4pm MST on May 13. If you'd like more information about the election process or did not receive a ballot, contact electioncommittee@stargateschool.org.

Stargate conducts elections in electronic format. Ballots are sent to the stakeholder email address on file in Infinite Campus, as per election policy. It is the responsibility of each Stargate stakeholder to reconfirm - at least 30 days prior to the election - that they have a VALID EMAIL address in Infinite Campus. Stargate Board Candidate Forum - May 2

Join candidates running to fill 3 open seats on the Stargate Board of Directors at a moderated Candidate Forum at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 2, at the Stargate Performing Arts Center. All community members are encouraged to attend.The Recruiting Committee is hosting the event.

Questions for the candidates were submitted in advance by the community. More information about the Candidate Forum event, including guidelines for participants, can be found on the Forms and Files page, in the Recruiting and Elections Committee document folder. More information about the Board of Directors election can be found on the Elections page.

Candidates also had an opportunity to introduce themselves briefly at the State of the School on April 24.

Open Seat on School Accountability Committee

At the April 18 Stargate Board of Directors meeting, the School Accountability Committee reported the resignation of one of its parent members, Amanda Szymanski. 

It is expected that a new parent member will be appointed to the position during the May 15 Stargate Board meeting. The person appointed will serve until the Fall election and then - if they want to continue to serve - would need to run for the seat. Anyone interested in joining the group to serve until the Fall election should contact recruiting@stargateschool.org. You may be asked to complete a Candidate Application Form and consent to a background check.

Submit Questions Now for Stargate Board Candidate Forum

The Recruiting Committee is hosting a Candidates Forum for candidates running to fill 3 open seats on the Stargate Board of Directors. The event will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 2, at the Stargate Performing Arts Center. All community members are encouraged to attend.

Questions for the candidates can be submitted using this FORM and are due by noon on Saturday, April 27. The final slate of questions will be decided prior to the start of the event. The same questions will be asked of all candidates. More information about the Candidate Forum event, including guidelines for participants, can be found on the Forms and Files page, in the Recruiting and Elections Committee document folder.  More information about the Board of Directors election can be found on the Elections page. 

Candidates will also have an opportunity to introduce themselves briefly at the State of the School, scheduled to start at 6pm on April 24.

Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey - 2018-19 Parent Feedback

The School Accountability Committee has compiled data from the annual confidential Parent Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey.

The survey was conducted January 7-21, 2019 and was open to all parent members of the Stargate community.

Parent Survey results are posted in the Accountability Committee folder on the Forms and Files page. A link to the results can also be found on the School Accountability Committee page.

The goal of this survey is to gauge how Stargate is meeting the needs of your children and family. Specifically, these results are used to:
  • Create recommendations for the Governance Board
  • Prepare reports for the State of the School presentation
  • Guide the Governance Board in their reviews of the Administration
  • Monitor progress toward Stargate’s goals
The survey is anonymous! No names or IP address are collected.
