News from the Board: "In case you missed it": The Board last met on September 17th for a regular business meeting where they reviewed and approved the Admission Policy for the new High School (grades 9 through 12), agreed to the proposed fall election budget, reviewed the fundraising plan for the 2014-215 school year, and received an update on the status of the new campus. In addition, the Board held their annual strategic planning session on September 19th there they began the process of reviewing the Bylaws to assure alignment with the new High School, discussed the key performance indicators, and participated in a team building activity with the Principal and Business Manager to practice "holding the rope" for each other with some rock climbing. Upcoming Board Meetings: October 15th: Business Meeting at 6:30 PM at Stargate November 19th: Business Meeting at 6:30 PM at Stargate Stargate Governance 101: Why is the Board reviewing the Bylaws? With the plans for the new High School on track to start our first 9th grade class next year, the Bylaws may need to be updated to reflect the school expansion. Over the next few months, the Board will be discussing potential changes that will be needed for the expansion and will be reaching out to the community for comment and official voting. Ballot instructions with your unique voting code will be sent home in the Monday folders. We have 8 parent candidates for the 3 open seats on this committee: Kevin Baird, Craig DeCamp, Tom Greco, Lisa Hosfelt, Shaun McMaster, Judd Serlen, Vamsi Tirnati, and Jeff Waggoner. Their pictures and biographies have been posted on the election website. Voting opens September 22nd and closes at 4 PM on September 26th. Questions can be sent to recruiting@stargateschool.org. Board Thank You: The Board is able to function smoothly because of the tremendous efforts of our multiple committees. The volunteers of each committee provide vital support to the entire school.
