News from the Board: Welcome back to another new and exciting year at Stargate. The Governance Board has continued work throughout the summer as we begin the process of renewing our Charter Agreement with Adams 12 for another 5 years. We are proud to announce that the Adams 12 School board has offered us the first ever expedited charter renewal. This unique opportunity is largely attributed to our tradition of academic excellence, financial stability, and continued efforts of the Board and the Principal to work together to make our school great.
"In case you missed it": The Board met this summer on June 12 and July 17 for regular business meetings. During these meetings, the Board prepared for and completed the Charter School Support Initiative Assessment on Governance and Finance (the first step in the Charter Renewal process) where they received an excellent rating (full results can be seen on the Board website), approved supplemental budget items, approved parent and staff handbooks and approved the updated admissions policy. In addition, they met on July 24th for a strategic planning session.
Upcoming Board Meetings: The Board generally meets once per month on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Agendas will always be posted before the meetings and approved minutes will always be posted to the website. Stargate Governance 101: How can you can contribute to the continued success of Stargate? As a parent governed charter school, Stargate's success is determined by the level of parent involvement in the governance committees. There are crucial volunteer positions open for the School Accountability, Community Relations, Recruiting, Grant, Finance and Fundraising committees. Every Stargate parent has unique skills to offer. Share your talents to help take Stargate to the next level. You can find details on committee activities on their websites. If you're interested in learning more, you can email the committees directly to find out more, attend a meeting or ask the Board directly(governance@stargateschool.org). In addition, all Board meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged. |
