News from the Board: "In case you missed it": The Board held the State of the School presentation on April 9th. The entire presentation can be found HERE. The evening kicked off with a performance from Ellie Shyu on the piano followed by a rendition of Taylor Swift's "22" by the Bells of 22. From there, the Board gave an overview of their KPIs, the Fundraising Committee gave an update on how they've exceeded their fundraising goals, the Community Relations Committee talked about the great events hosted at the school, the Finance Committee gave an overview of the plan for next year's growth, and the Accountability Committee reviewed the results of Stargate's TCAP scores benchmarked to other schools and provided recommendations to the Board based on the results of the Community Satisfaction surveys. The Board also gave an update on implementation of recommendations from last year's State of the School meeting and reviewed their accomplishments over the last year. In addition, the Board and Administration recognized Elizabeth Williams for her efforts with the Fundraising Committee, Denise Vitt for her continuous support of multiple committees and current chairing of the Elections Committee, Benton Tempas for the successful work with Watch Dogs, and Tom and Michelle Chambers for their support of the school through Jersey Mikes. The primary responsibilities of the Governance Board of Directors are to: determine the character of the school and uphold the School's mission; create a strategic vision and plan; establish overall policy; assure financial stability; institute and promote fundraising; and ensure that the school has appropriate resources to effectively implement the strategic plan and execute the day-to-day school operations.
