"In case you missed it": The Board last met on November 19th where they reviewed and approved the 2015 School Unified Improvement Plan (UIP); reviewed and approved the Community Satisfaction Survey; thanked the Community Relations Committee for their excellent Chili Cook Off Bingo Night Event; received an update on the Stargate 20th Anniversary celebration plans; received a summary of and approved the financial audit report; received an update of the school financials, including a discussion of the High School financing plan to verify that funding continues to be viable; accepted the Finance Committee's recommendation for spending $8500 from a John Irwin grant received in 2006 to fund teachers classroom needs; discussed the need for more participation of the Finance Committee at certain meetings of the Property Corporation for additional support; and developed a plan to provide the revised Bylaws to the community for review in January in preparation for the election in April where the community will be asked to vote on the revisions.

Upcoming Board Meetings:
December:  Board Meeting canceled for the holidays
January 21st:  Business Meeting at 6:30 PM at Stargate

Stargate Governance 101:
Why does the community need to vote on changes made to the Bylaws? The Board is reviewing the Bylaws for changes that will be necessary to prepare or the High School Expansion. Some of those changes are in sections of the Bylaws that can only be changed when at least 30% of the community votes and 67% of those voting approve of the changes. This was set up to make sure that the community is informed of these kinds of changes. You can expect information sessions in the Spring on what those changes will need to be well before a vote is taken. It will be critical for the community to participate in this vote.
