Hello Stargate Community,

Last night the Stargate Governance Board agreed to provide a community email blast shortly after each Board meeting instead of repeating it weekly in the Star News. This should give everyone a more focused look on what the Board is accomplishing while freeing space for the weekly items necessary in the Star News.

The Board met on December 16th for their monthly business meeting. They approved funding for Step Up to Writing, a new writing program designed for alignment of a writing curriculum across the K-5 students that will give staff a consistent program addressing one of the challenges for gifted students; reviewed and approved a new purchasing card program that will streamline accounting processes; discussed current offers on the existing building; congratulated the Grant committee on their effort securing a $35,000 grant from the Socrates Foundation for smart projectors in the new school and a $2,000 grant from the Broomfield Crossing Rotary Foundation for a health sciences Maker's Space station in the Adroit classroom in the new school, as well as discussed plans for continued corporate engagement and approved the new committee charter; reviewed and approved the Community Survey from the School Accountability Committee; thanked the Community Relations Committee for their work engaging our community so far this year; discussed training opportunities for Board members and completed the Executive Director's mid-year review.

Our next Board Meeting is scheduled for January 20th at 6:30 PM at Stargate. The focus areas will be on the work of the Stargate Foundation as well as committee charter reviews.
