"In case you missed it": The Board met on October 16th for its regular monthly business meeting. During the meeting they reviewed the fall election statistics, deemed Missy Hischke elected to the position of staff member of the Accountability Committee for a 2 year term, appointed Donna McLeod and Camille Ross to the position of staff members of the Accountability Committee until the next committee election, reviewed the quarterly financials, approved funding for the Gala, received an update from the administration on school goals, reviewed the school key performance indicators, discussed the potential interest in a Stargate High School and discussed the ongoing negotiations for the renewal of the charter.

Stargate Governance 101:

When does Stargate's Charter get renewed?  Stargate's Charter agreement with the Adams 12 School District is up for another 5-year renewal in 2014.  The Board and Principal are currently working with the district on an expedited renewal process (the first of its kind) with the District Board of Education.  Once the terms of the contract are agreed upon, the Board and Principal will present to the District Board of Education for final approval.  Currently this is expected to happen in early December.  The School's strong student achievement, consistently stable financials, and the Board's work to increase transparency and collaboration will all be measures of success used to finalize the agreement.
