Hello Stargate Community,

We hope everyone is back into the swing of things with the new year.

In a continuous approach to providing timely updates to the community on Board activities, we are sending this email blast instead of providing repeated updates in the Star News.

The Stargate Governance Board met on January 20th for their regular monthly business meeting. At that meeting they received an update on the operations of the school from the Executive Director, including a discussion on administrative staff alignment for next year, an overview of staff development opportunities and how they are translated into the classroom, and an update on the upcoming Stargate job fair for filling open staff positions; received an overview on the campus construction project from the Stargate Foundation; received an update from the Community Relations Committee on the upcoming activities for community engagement, including the Parent/Teacher Conferences on February 3-5 and March 2-3, the Art Show on April 25-29, and the Teacher/Staff Appreciation week on May 2-4; approved an amendment to the 2015-2016 school budget to reflect the actual student count for per pupil revenue from the state and an allocation of funds from the general fund balance to carry forward for appropriate spending, making sure that the financials are accounted for per state statute; allocated $10,000 of fundraising dollars from the general fund to the Executive Director for discretionary classroom support; and reviewed and approved updated committee charters for the Community Relations Committee, the Fundraising Committee, the Recruiting Committee, and the School Accountability Committee, which continues the alignment with the Board's strategic plan and goals.

Our next Board Meeting is scheduled for February 17th at 6:30 PM at Stargate. The focus areas will be on the quarterly financial review, a discussion on allocation process for fundraising dollars, and planning for the Board's annual self assessment and training.
