News from the Board: "In case you missed it": The latest business meeting of the Board was held on March 13th. For those unable to attend, here are some highlights: The Board saw a video presentation from the 1/2 Team, reviewed and approved the 2013-2014 master school calendar, reviewed and approved the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) that must be submitted to the District every year, held a discussion on the movie "Race to Nowhere," appointed Calley Herzog as the temporary Board liaison to the Accountability Committee, discussed the process for the community surveys, appointed Rick Robinson to chair the Election Committee for the spring elections, approved the 2013-2014 school budget that was presented at the February 27th planning meeting, appropriated funding for phase 1 of the recommended safety proposal, approved the new policy for the Board Document Control and Record Retention, approved the Communication Pathways flowchart, reviewed the new dashboard key performance indicators and had a performance review with the Acting Head of School. A special thanks to the Gala Committee for their incredible work on March 16th. Their effort was very evident in the decorations, the coordination, and the items up for auction. The evening was a great success. Head of School Search Committee: The Head of School Search Committee met on March 13th to begin Skype interviews with the top 7 candidates. The Skype interviews will continue over the next couple of weeks. The ultimate goal of the committee is to narrow the field to 3 or 4 recommendations for the Board. Upcoming Meetings: April 3rd, Special Business/Planning Meeting at 6:00 PM at Stargate: approve rescinding of an invalid salary policy while a new one is developed, review agenda and presentation for State of the School April 10th, State of the School at 6:00 PM in the Stargate Multi-Purpose Room Stargate Governance 101: What is the State of the School? The State of the School is a regular Board meeting that has been identified to provide an update on the school year to the community. As part of our charter commitment, the Board must provide this overview every year. This year, you can expect to see updates from the committees on their activities, including financial and fundraising status related to goals, and the results of the community survey and TCAP results from last year. |
