Executive Director of Academics Search Update On April 3 the Stargate Governance Board voted unanimously that Michael Henderson is the finalist under consideration for the Executive Director of Academics position. In accordance with the open meeting requirements of C.R.S. § 24-6-402(3.5), this notification is being published 14 days in advance of the April 17, 2019 Board Meeting when the Board will consider offering this position to the selected finalist.  Biography: Michael Henderson currently holds the position of Executive Director for five dual language immersioncharter schools serving 2,800 linguistically diverse and culturally competent students in Colorado. He has been in education for 25 years beginning his career as a middle school English teacher. Michael moved into school leadership as a principal for 10 years. For the last six years, Michael has supported the development of principals and aspiring school leaders through coaching and mentorship because he recognizes the significant impact effective school leaders have on student learning. Michael carries a strong belief that children must be offered authentic learning opportunities throughout the day in order to access and connect to curriculum with greater meaning and that teaching and learning is a reciprocal and responsive process between the student and teacher. Michael is a servant leader who served on the Si Se Puede Foundation Board of Directors, an organization that encourages its Latino student participants to be stakeholders in their community. He is also a graduate of Valley Leadership Class 37, a Community Impact Leadership Program. In 2013, he was recognized as the Cesar E. Chavez Administrator of the Year and named a Rodel Exemplary Principal. Michael, together with his fellow educator wife, Andrea, love spending time with their three adult sons and traveling the world! Michael is an avid runner, learner, and advocate for all children. |
